Protective Coatings

Protective Coating on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)

 

Customer Requirement: Development of very strong coating for EPS.

 

Challenges:

  • Mechanical properties

  • Adhesion to EPS

  • Development of coating method

 

Process:

  • Very strong coating was developed (see figure)

 

Solution: TecSolut is currently developing a 3D robotic coating process for application of this protective coating, following successful development of the coating process on a small scale.

Anti-graffiti Auto Coating

Customer Requirement: Development of an auto coating to prevent various paints from bonding to car surfaces (“anti-graffiti” coating).

 

Challenges:

  • Durability

  • Should be used against water-based and solvent-based paints

  • Paint should be removable with only water

  • Field application of coating, with minor surface preparation

  • More than 10 additional requirements

 

Process:

  • Different chemical strategies of anti-graffiti coatings were evaluated

 

Solution: TecSolut has developed a coating that is suitable for different types of paints. The technology has been licensed to an industrial customer.
